Transportation System Of Lima
The city contains many historical places and the monuments are located far away from each other and the city suburbs. Hence, to attain all the places, you have to depend on transport systems.
Public Transport
It is a mass mode of transportation and regarded as the cheap and best by the locals. The system is consisting of approximately 650 transit routes and tickets are made available by the driver. You will get three types of buses ie, municipal buses or simply called ‘buses’, microbus- a private bus, and combis or mini buses. The transportation system covers all the major areas of the city.
Taxis
The taxis are available in every nook and corner of the city and you can also get the service by making a phone call to
them. The meter system doesn’t exists in the taxis hence, you have to bargain the fair with the driver before getting inside the taxi. The authorized taxis are yellow in color.
Car Hire
If you are in a mood of hiring a taxi than your age should be minimum of 23 years and should possess valid driving license. Many companies have their representatives at the airport. The service is relatively inexpensive.
Land transportation
Lima being center of Peru, all the highways that are connected with Peru are also linked with Lima. The highways are Central Highway, Northern Panamerican Highway, and Southern Panamerican Highway.
Metro
The Lima Metro system is still under construction and its one line was finished two years back whereas; six others are yet to be constructed.
Your own vehicle
If you are staying nearby the city and planning to bring your own vehicle than it could be a traumatic experience due to hectic traffic. However, not to take any tension when matter of vehicle parking is concerned, as the city contains good number of parking areas.
Bicycle Hire
The sight of cycle riding in the city is very hard to find and the option of hiring a bike is also not accessible.
