Submitted by admin on November 6, 2009 – 6:00 amNo Comment

Jazz and other music, authentic local cuisine, bars and posh restaurants, beach and forest parties make the night scene at Cape Town rock.

There are venues to suit the taste of all kind of people. Flamboyant, sophisticated, party animals or the more relaxed types, no one is left out here.

With not strict license systems or rules, places are open here till the wee hours of early morning. City streets and suburbs enlighten up at nights with bars, DJs, clubs and all that goes to make a night out in a city worth it.

Bars and Café

Alcohols here are cheap and for those who prefer coffee or tea, there are plenty of Cafes around. The Paulaner Brauhaus and Restaurant, a bar at V & A water front, have a trendy menu of German beers such as the Apple Strudel. Café Camissa is for the more cultural types, playing host to live music, stand-up comedy act and poetry readings while serving drinks to its customers. Jo-burg is another good bar. At Long Street Café, you could be lucky to spot the who’s who of the Cape Town socialite and model community, sipping away their favourite cocktails to the music of DJs.

Alba Lounge, Bascule Whisky Bar among others are some trendy bars at the waterfront worth hanging out at, when you are tired of all the roaming around town and wish to wind up a bit. For the more relaxed ones, Cool Runnings with a balcony would be an apt place to chill out at.

The bohemian culture is earning itself a place in the nightlife of the Kalk Bay area.

For a good view and for pegs of good drinks, try the Baraza bar, the Sunset Beach Bar at Clifton or better still the Table Mountain Bistro. The La Med, Gen Country Club, is good for a sight of sunset.

Clubbing in Cape Town

From a pocket-friendly disco dancing club to a posh one with dress code and all, Cape Town has it all. Rhodes House has claims to elegant lounges and peppy dance floor. Staging alternative music, live performances and theme nights is The Purple Turtle at the corner of the Long Street. Ignite is one of the trendy clubs on Camps Bay. For Latino lovers, Buena Vista Social Club at Green Point is the place to be in. For gays, there are the Cruz club and the Bronx Action Bar.

For the posh and sophisticated, there’s Pulse, Opium and the Blush Lounge clubs. Chrome is one prolific club in the center of the city. The largest club of the Southern hemisphere is the The Dockside Complex in The Century City.

Cape Town Clubs

Casino

At par with the world-standard is the Grand West Casino, equipped with amusement parks for children, ice rinks for kids and adults, bars and a number of eating joints. There’s poker, close to 70 gambling tables, and a just a little less than 2000 slot machines. For a break from gambling, there are two luxury hotels you could go to.

Summer is a party time for Cape Town, with the most number of tourists coming in. Nevertheless, winters too are far from boring. There’s space for alternative music, poetry, comedy and even vegetarian food.  The suburban areas are gradually opening up for a night life, though for now, it’s the restaurants that remain the focal points of nightlife here.

In simple words, night life in Cape Town speaks of the vibrancy of the city and leads the tourists to enlist this place among the list of places that are nothing less that pure fun- be it night or day.
