Introducing Santiago

The city is surrounded by Andes Mountains and is the biggest and capital city of Chile. The tourists going to Chile will definitely stop to Santiago for its natural views. The prime crops of the city include beans, grapes, potatoes, among others and mines consist of limestone, Copper, and gypsum. However, it is not spared of Callampas, shanty towns are also available. It contains approximately five million inhabitants.  Plaza de Armas is oen of the largest landmarks of the city and existence of Parque Forestal introduces you with the European heritage. One of the popular landmarks of the city, the Plaza de Armas is prime square of the city. Here you can witness many prominent colonial structures. It is a paradise for local artists as they display their works in the spot.

Casa Colorada (Coloured House)

It is a colonial structure and it also contains Museo de Santiago that demonstrates the city’s history.

Palacio de la Moneda (Moneda Palace)

During 1846, it was residence of president and tourists can also take a look at the interior parts of the palace.

Museo Histórico Nacional (National History Museum)

The place will introduce with Chile’s culture and many exhibitions are also held here. You can take a look at Chile’s colonial period as well as contemporary times.

Museo Chileno de Arte Precolombino (Chilean Museum of Pre-Columbian Art)

This is the must visit museum in the city and contains artifacts from pre-Hispanic civilization of Latin America. The Palacio de la Real Aduana has artwork of metal, wood, clothes, etc. You can also take glimpse of tradition of Incas, Maya, and Aztecs.

Iglesia de San Francisco (Church of St Francis)

The church of St Francis is one of the ancient structures of the city that came into existence in the 16th century. Renowned Museo Colonial San Francisco that possesses colonial era’s artifacts is also located in the close proximity.

Museo Casa La Chascona (La Chascona House Museum)

Here you can be able to take a look at possessions of Pablo Neruda, a famous poet rewarded with Noble-Prize.
