The origin of Bangkok is found to be long back many centuries. According to the archeological studies the human habitants had started living there from the last 4000 years. During medieval times monarchy played a very important role in Bangkok’s history. Today Bangkok is a part of one of the successful democratic country.
The people of Bangkok are very-much friendly, warm, polite etc. But it should be remembered that as a state it does have its own boundary which should not be crossed by anyone be it’s the Bangkok citizen or a national or international tourist. The local mostly avoid getting into argument, losing their temper or direct criticism as they believe that hardly a little purpose is served by this. For both greeting and respect the famous ‘wai’ is a used as a gesture. Wai is use both of the person’s hands as if he is praying to be held in front of his face. Generally it is the culture of Bangkok to hold their head low in front of senior or elder person while talking to them as a mark of respect. According to Bangkok’s culture it is required to remove the shoes while entering the private rooms in the house. ‘Khun’ and the person’s name are used while talking or addressing to an individual of the same age group.
The Bangkok locals are too polite to comment on the disrespectful behavior. As a tourist you need to remember that even if not commented the disrespectful behavior is offensive. The people of Bangkok give lots of importance to the looks and appearance of the individuals. So nest time you are about to visit Bangkok or met a Bangkok citizen remember to dress smartly and be polite and show some respect.

In the Asia Hotel on Phayathai Road fomous ‘ladyboys’ or ‘katoeys of Bangkok’, perform twice every night at Calypso Cabaret.
