Celebrated during 13-15 April Songkran is celebrated in Bangkok. It is also known as Thai New Year. During this festival the Buddha idols are water sprinkled. This is a public holiday the Thai’s pay respect to their parents and elders. The tourist will definitely enjoy this festival. Keep looking forward for the traditional water throwing. Everything from a small sprinkle, or a polite splash or an aimed bucket-full of water you can be a target of any of these. It is the most welcomed solution for the soaring hot temperature. Makha Puja is the holy Buddhist day. During this festival candlelit ceremonies take place for various day and night mostly across all Temples around the city.
Royal Ploughing Ceremony is celebrated in the month of May which marks the start of the rice-growing season. Conducted at Sanam Luang, Royal Ploughing Ceremony is the ancient traditional ritual. Re-introduced in 1960 by H.M. King Bhumibol Adulyadej it is considered as the official start for the rice-growing season.
International Kite Festival usually takes place between March and April.
It is celebrated by the flying and fighting of kites. Various demonstrations are shown using the kites.
