Pondicherry – The Land of Tomorrow Pondicherry – The Land of Tomorrow
With beautiful paved roads and trees shading the whole area, I walked across the road only to be met by a fellow pulling a rickshaw. He came up to me and asked where I wanted to go. Seated in the rickshaw I tried to bask in the glory of this fascinating city I had come to – Pondicherry . Earlier a French colony, Pondicherry today is Union Territory in India. Pondicherry literally means new village. The entire city is based on the pattern of French construction with a grid pattern. The whole city is divided into sectors which are perpendicular to each other. There is a French region here and an Indian region. The French portion of the city is known as the Ville Blanche which in French means the White Town. The Indian portion is known as the Ville Noire or the Black Town. The French influence  [...]

Hochiminh City attractions
Also known as Saigon, Hochiminh City is the largest by area in Vietnam. This financial as well as economical capital is today among the most wonderful towns of Vietnam. Climatically, it is a comfortable destination between December and April because of the dry climate. Most travelers start to arrive in November only. This time is actually the hottest, but nights go cooler facilitating great party spirits. Just avoid the time from May to October as the Hochiminh city witnesses wet as well as the typhoon season. I landed at the largest international airport Tan Son Nhat in Vietnam, which is at 8 km from the downtown. I had booked my stay at the Blue River Hotel on the Pham Ngu Lao street at USD 30 for the room with the views. If you decide to stay here, do not go for its taxi service to airport,  [...]

Memoirs of Paris

Memoirs of Paris
I lust for Paris as I know it, a small slice of the city of light. Perhaps I am just a bit homesick and missing what I consider my spiritual home, but that is impossibility, for I am here in Paris. This gut-wrenching feeling hits me every time I return here, as if the city I once embraced lovingly is now giving me the cold shoulder, as if it resents me. It hits me every single time. I have lived here and left, and re-visiting is like sitting down for dinner with an ex-lover; you can try and try, but the relationship will never be as good as it once was. Emily and I have been here for four days. Four days…how time flies when you are shaking off the after-effects of jet lag and swimming in the mutual love for one another. I almost didn’t notice that our chambre à deux personnes had just  [...]
